Agronico Technology is a major producer of seed potatoes for the processing industry in Australia.

Agronico Technology operates its own tissue culture laboratory and hydroponic minituber production facility.  Field multiplication of seed potatoes is managed using Agronico’s own agronomy and project management teams, with the majority of the seed produced in the North and Northwest of Tasmania.

The Tissue Culture and minituber facilities are ‘VICSPA’ accredited and all seed is produced under the national certification scheme.

One of the major advantages of the Agronico Technology seed production system is that it is ‘closed loop’, with control over production from tissue culture through to the supply of seed.  In addition, Agronico’s strong commitment to research and the implementation of research outcomes, puts it in a leading position for continual improvement and innovation.

In addition to the production of seed potatoes, Agronico provides the following services to the potato industry:

• Storage of Tissue culture varieties
• The supply of Tissue culture plantlets and minitubers
• Assistance with obtaining Plant Breeding Rights (PBR) including
  conducting comparative growing trials
• Field and storage research services for new and existing potato varieties
